Perfect

I never wanted

By Josiah.thepoetPublished 4 years ago 1 min read

I never wanted to be the best.

Just. Perfect

I didn't aim to be better or compete

For my heart I didn't want conceit

I walked a finer line for my own renown

Swearing only to get a heavenly crown

I never wanted to be rich.

Just Perfect.

I studied well but not the hardest

For to get success I wasn't so earnest

I instead searched for a sweeter dish

Swearing to follow towards 'The Lord's wish'

I never wanted to be the kindest.

Just. Perfect.

I'd give to others, no more than another

For if I'm kind I might grow as a lover

I build on a fence and embrace the stone

Knowing only that I'll never be perfect alone.

I never wanted to be the best.

I never wanted to be rich.

I never wanted to be kind.

I never wanted to be.
