Peggy.

Imagine witnessing your best friend on the floor. Dead.

Her lungs not breathing, her mouth not panting with her tongue sticking out,

With lifeless eyes open... But not awake,

Imagine having to carry her to the gurney,

As you hold her... One last time,

You walked this friend everyday without fail on the same walk ceaselessly and without a second glance, taking care of her and feeding this friend ever since you lay eyes upon her when she was just a little one,

And as you walk with her one last time to the truck they will carry the body that you will only see in pictures and the images that stay with you in your heart...

You gave this friend a name, a purpose, and a loving home,

Yet all that effort seems to have gone to waste, and all too quickly,

Your heart carries a burden which will NEVER go away,

A piece of your soul exiled, never to come again in this life time,

The pain you will endure for the rest of your life,

Memory cruel and sick as it is, feeding off the misery and constantly reminding you of the foul thought of a loss so great...

That is now a reality...

For me, her name was Peggy and she was indeed one of the closest friends I had.

She watched over me and guarded me from terrible, agonizing, pain,.

I loved her. I loved her so much,

Peggy was always there for me.
