a poem

I have dated so many men who looked at me like I placed the stars in the sky,

who listened to my voice like their favorite song,

who felt my hand in theirs and insisted we fit together perfectly,

but, they have never fit me at all

unless I forced it or shifted, made myself small, accepted a seat on a pedestal

where he, where they, could or would not hear my real voice coming down.

The same problem in different shapes always led to the same conclusions:

I had to jump or be pushed off eventually.

fact or fiction

This has a very real deep poignancy! i found it interesting and important that you take things that would normally considered romantic and sweet and show how they can become traps! exceptional writing, Kay, as always!
