The Distant Galaxy of Love

I saw Jupiter, from a distance

He was beautiful and called My name,

Whispering, So only my ears could hear

It was a hollow, howling call

That touched my core and sent

My heart, spiraling into the thoughts that

Consumed me, my life and my mind

Me and Jupiter, love, loving

Each other from such a long

Distance and love do not mix.

Intoxicating me with a rival of

Mixed feelings of longing and, perhaps

A regret that we chose to love from

A distance that is, unbearable and, maybe

Inconceivably, lonely.

Venus, I hear her calling, sensuously calling

My name, loud and boisterous, calling ME

And she sounds like the wind, breathless,

Breezy, ballad like, wanting it to be

Me and her, only. I listen more closely

Because She makes me feel, less

Lonely for love. Less apt to feel so

Alone.

Distance is a funny thing. It stretches

Rubberband, at first, not giving anything, stretching

Forever. It bends, contortionist like, making you

Feel it isn’t real. Then it expands and shows you

Its full measure, its meters and you begin to

Wonder, will I last, will I reach the end….

Of our love affair, dear Jupiter and Venus?

Will I reach the end with regrets and find distance and

Love don’t mix? Will I survive those lonely nights and

days of being, just ME?

Jupiter is handsome and Venus is

Beautiful. I see them, from a distance and

Love them, like I’ve never loved before and

Then, I remember, they may not be who they

Seem. They, may be distorted, seen through

Rose colored glasses. Or closer than they appear,

Almost like, the mirage in the desert I see.

The desert I see that makes me lonely and makes

Me, and only me, yearn, for distance to die and

Leave me love. Love just for ME.
