Paper life

A poem

Lost in a sea of words

To erase my loneliness

I chase the feeling of worth

Hidden in the sanctuary of words

I skip from one page to another

Nowhere to hide on the surface

Falling between the lines

Like a forgotten character

Living an illusory life

The illusion no more a delight

But a heavy burden

As life keeps dragging down

The dreams turning to ashes

Watching the written pages

As I sit at my desk

The cup of tea cold and untouched

The full moon observing benevolently

I wonder where time flew

As I kept hiding behind the words

Living between the pages

Living other people’s lives

Only to come up empty-handed

Once the book is finished

What is left now, I ask myself

Afraid of the answer, I open a new page

And scribble down my innermost desires

Let me live one more day, one more page

Before I decide to close the chapter

For as long as the end

Is not the one that was supposed to be

The story should keep going
