paper lanterns

drifting gently in the clouds

a fire in its heart

and no agenda to acquire

paper lanterns

like the snowflake being ploughed

am unassuming work of art

only aiming to fly higher

paper lanterns

silently finding its way around

far from the place it found its start

to the unknowing, it's a wild ball of fire

paper lanterns

a simple way to get word out

a tender display of a loving heart

with desired destinations to aspire

paper lanterns

quietly flies till it burns out

falling slowly, till it rests, miles apart

its golden silty ash, lover inspired

Well-wrought, Kelli! Ashes to ashes, I suppose.
