
Black hair like the night sky. Brown skin like the earth. Eyes on me, every single minute. Ancestral gifts now a burden. Weighing me down drowning me above water. I fell into my mother arms staining her with tears. People stare at beauty she said.
Her cheeks were like pink roses when she cried with me. Her grey eyes turned blue as she ripped out the sorrow that had snuck into me. You are the most beautiful girl I have ever seen. Head up, shoulders back, be great.
Red was the colour of the rag my lecturer held when he said I wouldn’t finish. Like a raging bull I charged the finish line. The smugness as tangible as the certificate I framed. Congratulations, I wasn’t sure he said.
Green like jade was the colour of the eyes that stole my heart. Soul mate was his scent. Let me love you was his sound. My fortress when the world was too hard. Marry me he said.
Warm yellow sunshine was the colour of our life when we welcomed a son. Tiny innocence needing a life guide. Black hair like the night sky, brown skin like the earth. A love like no other.
He is divine I said.
The serene energy around him was cool blue like an ocean breeze. Act right, be the best, the bar is high. Eyes on you my son. My darkest fears painting over his colour as he grew turning it to mud.
Stop I said. Heal this.
White light wraps me like a new born baby. The healer guides me back to innocence. Before eyes were on me. All encompassing love is what I find.
