Over A Century

inspired by Kane Tanaka who died at age 119

By Alyx LennonPublished 4 years ago 1 min read

Heard in the news the other day

About a grand lady whose life came to an end

She was over a century in age

Oh, the look that bestowed my face, could send anyone to an early grave

Before they could ever see the light of day

I could never

Want to exist for so long

All the trauma

All the armor

You’d have to build upon

Back to an infantile mess

Being spoon fed again

And memories are fleeing

How can you live with this feeling?

So much life, but at what price?

It’s not worth it in my eyes

When it’s time, I won’t hide, you can have me without a fight

Take me plenty, show no pity

I could never

I should never

I would never

Survive for that long

All that trauma

All the armor

I’d have to build upon

Barely made it out of this one

And I’m sure there’s more to come

Don’t make it drawn, don’t drag me along

If I ever

Exist for so long
