Outside and Invisible

Poem #112 by KJLamon

Outside and Invisible by KJLamon

We are in between, a time and place rarely visible

Between dusk and night, but never obscured.

Between dawn and day, but never observed

We exist between lines drawn before our existence,

a glass ceiling can be shattered.

With enough force.

A line crossed, but never broken.

Erasure is a laughable dream.

Literacy without understanding

can bind the soul to purgatory.

Those below are equally invisible and outside.

Those above, do not care

Do not share, only gawk and stare.

Outside religion, outside politics,

Outside socio-economic, outside status.

We strive to survive our existence.

Are the elite as aware, or is ours,

as of yet, an existence unknown?

Numbers decide fate.

Surrounds us, binds us,

To an invisible future.

We are millions, yet we are none.

Alone together, outside and invisible.

We exist on a familiar plane

Loosely bound together by nothingness.

We are in between

With enough food to starve,

Enough water to die of thirst,

Even as rain falls from our sky.
