You mustn't ever fall in love, my friend.

Yes, run away. Avoid it like a plague.

Your heart just may be broken in the end.

Its bleeding, lifeless form a sad, red flag.

*

For lovers often stray or die in time,

Thus, leaving those behind in tattered ruin.

So, flee from love, and treat it like a crime,

And soon, your stronger heart will be immune.

*

Go find a friend and keep your feelings light.

No need to share your secrets or your soul.

Yes, have some fun, and go home every night.

Be sure your feelings stay in your control.

*

For love will only hurt you in the end.

You mustn't ever fall in love, my friend.

*

Author's note: This satirical piece does not come from my beliefs. Yes, I've been widowed twice, but I have enjoyed being in love, and I relish the love I have for friends and family.

But it certainly is my belief hahaha. Expect for the having fun part. What I'd suggest is to not have any human contact at all. That way, no one can hurt us hehehe. Loved your poem!

I was addicted to love before I understood what dude I should not love! I am 76, divorced three times. I always lived with a dude. I am super picky now and quite happy with no man in my bed. 😂

I'm glad you didn't give up on love. Though this one's telling us to avoid it, it felt quite easy and flowy to read. Many poems like this often feel... clogged? Like the pain they experienced makes the flow stuck even in the poem.

I absolutely loved your poem! I could most definitely sense the emotions throughout!
