Out of Rhyme

A breakup "nonet" love poem

I wished to be simple: to plant a

garden to grow thyme. You bought seeds—

strung my string bean vines. I went

wild for you—tried to write

a love song— complex

lines. Our string beans

died; we fell

(out of)

rhyme.
