Our People
Owes no apologies

Your privilege has a way of dismissing the scars on our melanin skin
The scars YOU placed within
And somewhere in your demented minds the power you extend
Holds weight
You parade your power as if you won
As if our blackness is a game you beat
Literally
The badge given to you is to protect and serve
Instead
you rather protect the ignorance that have always been here on this earth
the so-called pureness of your white skin
Constantly disregards our worth
But yet our resiliency has more authority than what you can comprehend
The fears you possess weakens your resolve
To keep us underwater
What goes beyond the fake freedom you presented
Is the love we have for our sisters, brothers, sons and daughters
If strength in numbers is what intimidates you
Then we are doing it’s due justice in imitating the very image of God
Unity at it’s finest
Shines the brightest
And our people owes
No apologies
Our people wars differently
Resiliency is our weapon of choice
we could fight with our hands but we choose to use our voice
Silence is your way of keeping us in a box
Imprisonment
Killing us
Defaming our character
Are some of the ways
You think will keep us blocked
But despite the hate
Our people continue to rise
Our light continues to shine
And we will forever celebrate
The freedom you despise
We hold our heads up high
Because at the end of the day
Our people matter
