Our Ouroboros

The Comfort of the Eternal

By Daniel PiercePublished 3 years ago 1 min read

Afloat I find my mind in a sea of infinite dark

My ears edge on a thimble of a sound within an echo of a dream

My senses fade and my mind gathers the last daydreams

of a humanity I have almost forgotten…

As I watch my feet crumble into the edges of eternity

I grip my stomach

Feeling it’s emptiness

The dryness in my throat

And the cold on my skin

I am but an element in all of this...

This.. page of timelessness...in the eyes of God

I feel my back lifting as a million infinitesimal fragments separate

Once held together and united by a name

That..was my name…

And now.. I am nothing more than everything we see…

I will find you again...

When? I do not know.

But I do know now after all the drudgery, hardship, and discontent...

My mind is free and for it...

What I called a “heart” is full.

Might we love again on some eternal plane

For there is no greater comfort than the trust that we go on; that our souls shall meet again.
