Other Side of the Bonfire Light By: Danyel Fields
The other side of the bonfire light is a poem about love at first site.
Out one night just chilling with the guy's
Drinking some beer and tasting some wine
The plan was just to have a damn good time
We lit up a bonfire to have a little bit of light
Just shotting the breeze and talking smack
I rolled up a big fat one to lay it on back
That's when it happened right out of the blue
I see her spinning through the flickering fuses
Little red sundress glowing like mid-day afternoon
I knew I had to have her what should I do
Told my boys I would be back in just a few
Making my way around to see what I could do
Still spinning and dancing along with the tunes
Stepping beside her and grabbing her hand
Asking her to see if I could have the next dance
She smiled so gently and grabbing my other hand
Saying why wait you should give this one a chance
She placed my hands on her hips smiling from ear to ear
Wrapping her hands behind my neck we started to spin
Dancing and singing, life's a dance we learn as we go
Sometimes we lead and sometimes we fellow
It's been ten years now and we're still spinning around
Learning every day and not yet slowing down
Who would have thought a damn good time?
Would lead to having a damn good life
All starting from the other side of the bonfire light
