Oracle

More musings on art

The Pythian Sybil at the Philadelphia Museum of Art

Cast in bronze, captured

Frozen

Still

Set into motion by the artist

Against my

Will

Fabric pooling in metallic drippings

Supple

Cold

All too aware of the dangers

Lurking

Foretold

No words escape my lips

Oracle

Silence

My prophesies desired yet my lips are

Still

Tense

The sculptor knows not what he’s plays at

Foolish

Arrogant

While I cannot speak the words slide from my tongue

Forward

Slant

My thoughts clatter to the floor

Stepped on

Trample

My warnings are ignored

The Pythian

Sybil

This piece is hauntingly beautiful! It captures the silent oracle's frustration perfectly. The tragedy of unspoken truths and trapped thoughts is so intense. Love the drama! 🌌✨

Nothing is sadder in life than thoughts that are trapped and intentions that are ignored.

Ooh, this one's like a mute oracle trapped in a bronze statue, trying to spill the tea but can’t! The whole vibe of wanting to warn but staying quiet is pretty intense, but I love the drama!

A powerful portrayal of silence and ignored prophecy.

  • I thought this was going to be an article on art, but IT IS ART. Love the words, the form and the image
