Open Heartbreak

Breakup Nonet Challenge Entry Inspired by The Police and Funeral for a Friend.

Most open heartbreak for all to see

Love can mend your life, but it's hope

That can keep us together

When it's at its rawest

Love can break your heart

Like a bottle

To concrete

When they

Left

Thanks for reading!

Author's Notes: Nonet for the Breakup Nonet Challenge inspired by The Police's Message in a Bottle (featured above the poem) and Funeral for a Friend's The Year's Most Open Heartbreak (featured below). Also kinda inspired by Rachel Deeming and her nonet, Bite (also featured below) because it references, accidentally, Love Will Tear Us Apart by Joy Division. That led me down the rabbit hole of taking inspiration from those two sources.

A bottle to concrete. Crikey, that hits unrecoverably hard!

Sting twice in one week. Have you read Brendan Donaghy? https://shopping-feedback.today/authors/brendan-donaghy%3C/span%3E%3C/span%3E%3C/span%3E%3C/a%3E He writes really funny stuff and I had a conversation with him about Sting just this week and now here he is. Excellent nonet again, btw.
