I did this thing quite unintentionally
Upon my return-(My 52nd, actually!) to the ‘city’
Feeling refreshed from my time in nature, and a little woozy
The incredible rains that night in the teepee
Wishing ever-so to stay ‘in the zone’
I paused in the garden when I got home
Remembering all of the sweet things
My time with friends
And the card reading
I looked up to the Moon in the distance
Past the wires and Sunflowers
Mingling with the things of un-nature
Contemplating the future
And I let the words flow…
I had only submitted one short story before
I really didn’t know
If there would be more
So I shared my poem with a friend
To lift her up out of her head
“Keep writing! Keep writing!” she said
And in my excitement
I sent it in to be read
I sent it in hastily, without reviewing the poem rules
And the response the next day was an alarming, NOT Approved!
It was a short poem, fifty-something words at best
I’d wasted their time, and they put me to the test-
I could re-submit my work
With a minimum of 100 words-or let it rest!
I thought, I’m learning so much, and I’m really blessed
That I have this amazing venue to express!
So, Thank You for letting me continue to play~
And I’ll do my best
I’ll try not to obsess
About the mistakes
I have made along the way
They are opportunities for growth
And, to me-that is success!
