After a morning
Of struggling
With my identity
I walk
Another walk
Alone.
This time
On the streets
Of the old neighborhood,
Past the dilapidated railyards
And the beautiful garden
Contrasting
On the corner
Where I give in to temptation.
It is there
Where I steal a pear
From the tree
On the other side
Of the walkway.
I think about feeling bad
For a moment,
But standing amongst
Those neglected
And squished
Quickly
Convinces me otherwise…
And, in a snap,
It is done!
Taking in the sun
Rising above
The construction site
I notice the sparkling tip
Where the stem
Separates
From its outstretched arm,
Beckoning me…
I take in
the sweetness
that exists
In a place
With unforeseeable extremes
And as the juice
Drips delicately
Down my wrist
I realize the richness
In all things.
