One Blossom At A Time

How the butterfly gets by during the time they are around

Light as a feather and just as pretty,

I flutter about all graceful and giddy.

To each new flower my journey is set,

Not one shall I miss or life is forfeit.

With each little sip I gain some strength,

Adding to my journey a bit more length.

I cannot stop for time is fleeting,

There's a place that awaits my ever present greeting.

On the next cool breeze life gives me a lift,

Now comes the hard part where I search and sift.

There it is; another little flower,

I must act quickly within the hour.

Plenty of my kind are fluttering too,

And soon all that's left will be unflavored dew.

Making my move I land in rapid haste,

Almost losing the chance to get a taste.

Taking a sip of nectar always brings about a fervent rush,

Especially when everyone loves the same flowered brush.

Ah sweet relief is the life of a playful little butterfly,

For our life is forever twined with the ever changing sky.
