I wish I could marvel at the lake
Ripples move aside just for my sake
They ought to hold me in some trance
The way they vibrate, scatter and dance
***
Shimmering colours collide like drunk lovers
Clumsy and wet under bluesky covers
They ought to gleam and bounce off my eye
When sunset throws blankets of burnt peach dye
***
Upon this postcard paradise water
There’s only one thing my heart is drawn to
My surface reflection, hypnotic to me
Nature’s got nothing on vanity
About the Creator
Phil Lovell
As someone who never really connected with poetry, I have been suprised to discover how much I enjoy writing it. It gives me an avenue to explore the philosophical side of my thinking, and explore my creativity a little. I hope you enjoy!
