Omer 6 - vampire smile

yesod of chesed

By Chaia LeviPublished 9 months ago Updated 9 months ago 1 min read

Tearing into scar tissue on

soft, exposed neck into

thrumming, strumming artery

interlocking in memory, ghosts, touch.

I am stitched together

of people’s foibled cobwebs,

of nightmares and stars,

of rage and ecstaticism.

Whisper to me how it’s ok.

Reach deep into the dark,

clear the haunted strands,

help me look for the crack

where the light gets in.

Crackling flame lit by splintering match:

amber, blue, white.

Searing and tearing and loving and trying;

always trying

as the drawn poison drains,

slow restoration of limbic and nerves.

No different from cornered fox:

my teeth bared in terror and hope,

hackles lowering in time and gentle hands.

At arm’s length, within reach —

pull me close, closer and don’t let go.

I promise,

I promise

to stay.
