Omer 21 - honey whiskey on my tongue

malchut of tiferet

By Chaia LeviPublished 9 months ago Updated 9 months ago 1 min read

i never found dignity in

prostration and keeping quiet

but i also found no dignity

in getting lost to

distractions, stupors, people.

i kept tasting the burning, bitter honey

and acrid cinnamon

in hopes of losing and finding

the parts which hurt.

i held tight and let go of the ones

who loved and hated me,

i took in the dark and levity,

convinced it had to be better,

in mantra

until i found the thread,

following the winding, binding road

to the tangled center and found

i was right.

i made the choice to lose the taste

of honey whiskey on my tongue,

now sipping ciders

which stand half empty and wasted

unlike me
