When my arms wrap around a tree
I can't help feel ease all through my being
Sure, you might laugh at me
Make fun of my ideals
But have you ever tried to learn from their beauty?
From their strength and resiliency?
Yes, I love the trees
Listening to them move & sway
Watching the winter turn them grey
The warmth of spring sprouts fresh life budding green
We lay in their shade accepting protection on hot sunny days
But my favourite is fall
When they've done their work, they've stretched tall
and then let go of all they've grown in one last beautiful display
Whenever I'm lonely or need a reminder
I go to the trees
It is they who teach me what it means to be grounded
I can wander the world, Alaska to Japan
And still feel connected from my roots with the land
It is they who teach me we can only grow together
Our breath is synced, we need one another
Our cycle is not separate, though we often forget
So I sit with the trees
Soak in their ancient wisdom
Soak in their green
