Dandelion

her reminder

She's delicate, subtle & sweet

Light tickle of pollen, her special treat

Lure me in, that magnetic pull stirs deep within

Whispering yellow.

This is how I imagine the meeting of bee and dandelion.

A dandelion

Healer of hearts, helper for humans

Meant as medicine, labelled lawn demon

Who would take this delicate yellow and paint her a horror story?

Are they afraid of her glory?

She's been misunderstood but she grows nonetheless

She continues to shine even when wanted dead

Her strength is not dampened by humans beliefs

Something inside pushes her on

Roots keep her connected & strong

Even when people tell her she's wrong

Dandelions cannot be defined by a thought

She chooses not to let the world tell her who she is

She chooses yellow

To reach for the sun and let out her beauty

When I see her resilience I feel this touch of yellow within myself

That I too can release the shackles of how others might see me

That my medicine has not lost its potency

I remember who I came here to be
