On a manual typewriter,
school days were brighter.
Learning to type.
Without the hype
the electric preferred.
Our revisions blurred.
Mistakes made.
Wite-out grade.
Dreamed of the day
enhancing away
without starting over.
Like dancing in clover.
It's definitely true.
Dreamed of you.
A typist fantasy
became a reality.
Oh, word processor.
Oh, word processor.
No longer taken for granted.
You're a superstar on the planet.
Dreams do come true.
You work so hard too.
It's time to express my love.
My love to you.

Writer's notes: This is written for Vocal's prompt.
"The Prompt
Write an ode to an ordinary object.
At the beginning of the year, we hosted the Uncommon Poetry Challenge. Now, it's time to embrace the opposite: the ordinary. This poetry challenge prompts you to pause and appreciate the unsung heroes that add value to your daily life — to find beauty in the most mundane. From the reliable old toaster that browns your bread each morning, to the humble pen that captures your thoughts, or the warped key that opens your home - we invite you to bring these everyday items to life in verse.
An ode is a form of lyrical poetry traditionally used for expressions of praise. It's about shifting perspectives, and unearthing depth and complexity in the simplest of things. Entries can range from humorous to sentimental, abstract to concrete, as long as they embody the spirit of celebrating the ordinary.

interesting piece
I just heard this but kids are no longer taught handwriting in schools here-only printing because of computers =/
I'm put in mind of the sensory clack and finger feel of a typewriter. Still, I'll take the miracle of the word processor!
I miss typewriters One of my first ever stories was on my grandmas old typewriter ☺️
I remember when... Thank you Babs for taking me back!😊💕
Awesome job Babs!
Truly a wonderful ode here Babs! You nailed this so well!
A great subject for the community and a lovely ode. Well done, Babs!
Excellent glimpse into the history of what we are all doing
Very nicely done.
Loved this one Babs. It's hard to believe how far we have come since I was a boy.
This is the perfect ode! White-out used to be everyone’s best friend until the word processor took its place.
I love this perspective. It’s true. We are spoiled. Great ode!
