As a child
I loved all things nutty
I loved nuts in their natural forms
In cakes, ice cream and fudges
and porridge and with ripe bananas
and in everything else
I never had peanut butter though
I never had burghers and fries
or popcorn, potato chips or nuggets
Our local peanut vendor
Made delicious nuts in his makeshift oven
made with love and lots of concrete
Yet I dreamed of all the nutty deliciousness
locked in tins and cans upon supermarket shelves
I could not then afford them
they cost so much back then
So I swore that I would go to America
Where, like a naughty squirrel
I could eat all the nuts in the world
I did eventually reach the USA
where I ate so many nuts
They gave me high cholesterol
Now I still consume my beloved nuts
Just in careful moderation
After all, too much of anything
Will usually go awry!!!!!!!!
Holy nuts!

Wow, a real ode to nuts! I admire your willpower in cutting down. You just reminded me of Peanut Punch, which I only tried for the first time 2 or 3 years ago but then became shockingly addicted to. I can't buy it where I live now, which probably saved my life! =D
Cholesterol! Ah, nuts! And yes, the perfect day should always both begin & end with nuts. Even when they're stuck in your teeth they prove a treat.
