Drowning in time

This watch is twenty minutes off.

Also, not all the diamonds are real.

But, I can't take it off

Because of how naked my wrist will feel.

Now, sometimes I have to take it off

For doing dishes, taking showers, or even fashion.

But, it doesn't stay off.

No, I always put it back on.

I've noticed the shine is wearing off

And it's so tight, it leaves imprints in my skin.

They stick out much more when I take it off.

If I replace it with some bracelets, they may be too thin.

It'll feel different and a little bit...off.

Granted, they are quite shiny and quite pretty

And they won't leave imprints when they come off.

Even then, I still look at this watch, that's not as pretty,

And I'm scared to take it off.

It doesn't even tell the right time.

So, why can't I take it off?

I'm starting to think it's the right time.

I think I need to take it off

Before I'm twenty minutes late,

And my ship sails off.
