The Tomato Song

Once I went walking with my brother Tim.

Somebody threw a tomato at him.

Now tomatoes are soft and they can’t break one’s skin,

But this bugger did—it was wrapped in a tin.

The above is not my poetry or song. Me and my mam used to sing it when I was little. However below is my take on It lol

We strolled through the market, me and old Tim,

Laughing at dogs and the folks looking grim.

Out from a shadow, a missile took flight,

Splat! went the tin with a terrible bite.

Tomatoes are gentle, or so people claim,

But this one was angry and aiming for fame.

It clanged off his forehead, a dent in the day.

Who chucks a whole tin? Who raised them that way?

Tim didn’t cry, just rubbed at his crown,

While I chased the culprit clear out of town.

A lesson was learned, and it’s plain to begin:

Don’t trust a tomato that’s packed in a tin.
