Of Ancient Times

Lost Cultures

By Khudair Ahmed ShaikhPublished 3 years ago 1 min read

Amidst the ruins and remnants of old

Lies the tales of ancient peoples untold

Their customs, their beliefs, their ways

Lost to time, but not to our gaze

In distant lands, in ages past

They lived and breathed, their lives amassed

A wealth of wisdom, of art and song

That echoes still, though they are long gone

Their temples and palaces rise to the sky

A testament to their greatness, now gone by

Their language, their script, a mystery unsolved

A puzzle waiting for us to be resolved

Yet, in the midst of all this beauty and wonder

Lies a story of love, betrayal, and thunder

Of kings and queens, of power and greed

And the downfall of a once-great breed

For in this ancient world, as in ours today

The strong preyed upon the weak, in every way

And amidst the chaos and strife

Came a hero, to claim his rightful life

He rose from the ranks of the oppressed

To claim the throne, and put his rivals to rest

But his triumph was not to last

For in the shadows, an enemy lurked, steadfast

A traitor in his midst, a snake in the grass

Whose treachery would bring about his downfall at last

And so, the hero fell, his dreams shattered

His legacy, a memory, forever tattered

And yet, amidst the ruins and dust

A glimmer of hope, a promise of trust

For in the hearts of those who remained

The ancient peoples' spirit still remained

Their art, their music, their stories told

Their legacy, a treasure trove of gold

For though their kingdoms may have fallen

Their legacy, their memory, lives on.
