Ode to Wright Park

Tacoma

Strolled through an old park,

one I used to visit on a lark

No lawn bowlers that day

instead it was highschoolers at play

watching baby ducks and screaming

as a startled blue heron was winging

over their heads

The sister statues, bright

and white in the sunlight

welcomed us into the historic

trees, year labeled for my pic

The conservatory, warmed through glass

by the sunshine, free to take a pass

through displays of color surrounding the path

and hanging overhead in a warm vapor bath

People seldom appreciate a park for what it is anymore. Great tribute Andrea!
