Ode to the Moon

The Lesser of the Great Lights

Gentle.

Calming.

Changing.

Losing at times.

Gaining in others.

Rhythmic.

In the shadows.

Symbolic of rest.

Yet, not leaving us in the dark.

A companion when full and waning.

Allowing other lights to shine.

Welcomed by the earth and the sun.

A shared partnership in a grand design.

Lesser, yet great.

Lesser in brightness, strength in softness.

Lesser in size, power in proximity.

Lesser in scale, mighty in impact.

A comforting companion as we relax out of our day.

More welcome in rest than the greater of lights.

With subtle influence and quiet power.

Reflective of the fire that burned in the day.

Ode to the moon, night after night.

The lesser of the two great lights.
