I saw you last night, my moon
Eyes of fire trapped in silver memories,
Radiant and warm, like molten mercury.
All the world looks through you…
I see. I see.
Let them ignore you.
Let them walk past, blind and dull-minded.
Tonight, you are mine.
All mine,
Even if only in shadow and thought.
For tonight, that is enough.
They call you safe, dependable, boring.
I see the hunger beneath.
I see the rage beneath.
I see the darkness they dare not prod.
I crave it… I crave you.
Turn not from me, my moon.
I saw you last night...
Oblivious to the stares,
Oblivious to the stars,
Oblivious to all but yourself.
I could burn in your gaze.
I will burn in your absence.
It is worth it.
Ignore me if you must,
For no star shines as bright as you.
Yet, oh… if only your eyes
Would rest on me, even once.
Just once is enough.
Not the glazed look of a thousand lives,
Not the apathy I have seen a thousand times
Full awareness in your eyes.
Just once is enough.
I may get greedy, though, with a look
One look.
I may want more.
Always more, my moon.
Let none see your eyes but me, my moon.
Your mercurial gaze on none but me.
Else, my moon, your radiance will glow against
The redness of my rage,
The ache of my obsession,
The hunger of my love.
Shine bright, my moon…
Only for me.
About the Creator
Donna K
I write where love and darkness intertwine in the quiet spaces where obsession is not a cage but a lantern, where madness is not an ending but a mirror. My work spirals through themes of devotion, identity, and the raw intensity being human
