Obesity a horrible disease

Each day a fight inside I hide

Obesity a horrible disease

Obesity plays with what you feel,

It twists your thoughts, then seals the deal.

You eat to cope, then hate the plate,

A cycle closed, a heavy fate.

It messes with the words you hear,

Feeds you shame, then hides the fear.

You try to stop, to break, to shout,

But overeating locks you out.

The mirror lies, the voices grow,

They whisper things you shouldn’t know.

A second slice, a secret bite,

Then guilt arrives to spend the night.

The world says, Stop. Just eat less food.

As if that cuts through pain and mood.

They never see the war inside,

The part of you you’ve had to hide.

You smile outside, but deep within,

The battle drums still pound your skin.

And every meal becomes a war.

A silent fight, then one bite more.

Inside, I hide the hurt you speak.

I try to turn the other cheek.

One day, I will find my way;

You’ll see, then from obesity, I’ll be free.
