Not Quite So Lonely

A moment of self reflection

Peaceful, meaningful reflections

A moment alone, but not quite so lonely

It is just I and yet more than I

A room full of faces,

each carrying a distinctive voice

My attention wandering

shifting from voice to voice

The sweet melodic sound of a female voice

the gruff sound of a man's

Pieces of conversation that my ears pick up

only offer a glimpse into these stranger's lives

A young child giggles

before I fall back into my "me time"

A moment alone, but not quite so lonely

It is just I, but yet more than I

An empty seat sits across from me

Plenty of room for two at this table

There are couples, families, friends

Sitting together

occupying every table or so it seems

And yet I am not bothered, not embarrassed,

And certainly not lonely

It is just I

As I enjoy this moment - this time of self reflection

A treat to myself.
