Not Just Politically Correct

But Humanly Graceful

Like at a family reunion, you shouldn't speak politics

you can't slam a religion, just to stir up conflict

You can't slander a gender or say who might love who

you wouldn't want someone digging or slamming on you

You can't call people names, disrespectfully speaking

you can't say everything that your head might be thinking

Because the needs of another, might be different than yours

tell me why being polite has to be such a chore

It's not your place to share someone's how, when or what for

and it's more than just rude to call someone a whore

When you don't know the whole story and didn't hear it from them

then please take a step back and don't repeat it again

You can have your opinion, just don't sell it as gospel

the world doesn't spin just for you to spew out a mouthful

of ugly misconceptions or distasteful accusations

this world has had its fill of bully gratification

Placing unwilling persons at the butt of their jokes

this kind of behavior needs to stop and go up in smoke

Why is it so hard to keep the hate out of your mouth

we've all had enough of it spinning around

Don't you think it's time for a breath, time to make a new start

to begin using our words filtered with love, through our hearts

Sad that these things need to be said, but you did a marvelous job of saying them. Well done, Kelli.

👏👏👏 So well said, and an always needed reminder.

  • Kelli! This was a POWER-FULL slam woman! Kindness should not be surreal: we all need to own it, show it, live it.

Wow! Kelli. This was fanTASTIC! I like how your points and lesson was set within a family reunion. The tongue is a sword and I agree, we should be careful how we use it. Your rhymes were so smooth all the way through. I especially like when the continuation of a line, follows in the next. Like this one, ‘ the world doesn't spin just for you to spew out a mouthful of ugly misconceptions or distasteful accusations’ it still held tight to the rhyme and rhythm. I am humbly impressed! ♥️👌🏽👏🏽
