They met during a season when neither of them was looking.

Life had already taught them enough lessons,

and they were content pretending they had learned them all.

Their conversations were unremarkable at first.

Simple words.

Safe topics.

Nothing that asked too much of the heart.

But love has a way of listening

long before it speaks.

He noticed how she lingered at doorways,

as if goodbyes had once hurt her more than she admitted.

She noticed how he stayed even when conversations grew quiet,

as if leaving had once cost him something he never recovered.

Love did not rush to fix them.

It sat with them.

Let them arrive as they were—

unfinished, careful, still healing.

There were moments when distance returned,

when old fears knocked softly at the door.

But love waited,

confident that what was real

would not disappear so easily.

And one day, without a single dramatic moment,

they realized love had already settled in.

Not as a promise,

but as a presence.

Steady.

Patient.

Willing to wait as long as it took.
