Not All That Glistens
Poppy’s Prompt #12

🌲
Another year I watch the tinsel glisten on the tree.
Challenging the beauty of the stars hanging carelessly in the sky.
I am moved by the scent of gingerbread lingering in the room, stirring my senses, and begging my mind to wander.
The mistletoe weeps, abandoned and unemployed. Calling new lovers to fall under its magical wonder.
Deeply I swim, draped in moments of your memory
The darkness of midnight bears witness to our gathering, as you circle my mind.
Not unlike the wreath on my door, welcoming a new season, alone.
