I made the same mistake again
Said some stupid words
My heart meant them in the moment
But now I’m sorry
You hug me and kiss my forehead
Then you forgive me
Because love is not a straight line
Or a forward march
But a slow dance spun in circles

Elegant and humble!
So poignant and beautiful!
I loved the atmosphere of this poem. Somber but comforting too. You wrote this very well!
An amazing poem with a wonderful image to accompany it. This poem sounds like me 🥹.
Because love is not a straight line. Damn this was just so good.
Ah!! I love this metaphor for what it means to be in love!! So concisely captured!! Nice work DK!
This is exactlyyyyyyy what love is. Loved your poem!
Well-wrought! Will we spiral like the Hawk catching the wind or the falling leaf succumbing to gravity? We must choose!
That is so true. I love that last line. So well done.
That last line perfectly encapsulates love! Spectacular!
Non-linear, indeed. Loved how this little thing unfolded into such a brilliant takeaway. Great entry!!
To have that level of understanding is what love is all about. I think referencing the dance is important - an image of motion and intimacy.
Absolutely beautiful DK. Love is about forgiveness too. I love that line a slow dance spun in circles. So beautiful!!! Well Done!!!
Holy crap. This. is. sublime. DK, this is why I love and get a bit envious at your writing. Not making it all about me, sorry. But, this is just sublime. Love the story that unfolds....one that we are all familiar with and it felt very personal and intimate too. Well done, pal. Such a strong entry.
