No Yesterdays

A poem of heartbreak

By Rasma RaistersPublished 3 years ago 1 min read

No yesterdays,

all the birds have flown away,

there was no one who could stay,

now only gray and rainy tomorrows,

weave a path to my door.

loneliness began,

with the slamming of a door,

lonely dark nights,

nothing is right.

No yesterdays,

for they bring memories

and painful tomorrows.

Wish I could pack up all the sorrows,

have money I could borrow,

take a journey to the future,

leaving these yesterdays behind.

Wishing there was a place to hide,

I really hate taking this ride,

on the streetcar named Desire,

but your love must have only been for hire.

Smiles that warm the heart,

right from the start,

hand in hand with promise

and lying words of love.

The super glue,

cannot hold the pieces of my heart in place,

it still beats but like a piece of tattered lace.

Take me away,

to a place beyond the clouds,

where the sun shines golden,

where birds sing love songs

and the world seems kinder.

Don’t want the memories,

to come shining through,

all of the –

yesterdays…
