My Dearest Friend
In memory of a friend who passed away

My friend how time does slip away,
how the years have come and gone.
Since you went away forever.
is your life better, happier,
than it was on earth,
Are you swinging on a star? -
looking at me from afar.
Memories bring back the happy times,
somewhere long ago in rhyme,
of summer days and long walks.
Wandering hand in hand,
like children through,
the streets of the city.
You and I lost to all,
but what we were to one another,
the dearest, closest friends on earth.
Then you chose to fly,
but I had to remain,
many seasons have come and gone.
Time has flown so quickly,
like a wild carousel ride,
whizzing by,
but you still remain today,
what you were then to me,
my dearest friend -
you will always be.
Send a shining star,
from up above to me.
