Nightmare

It starts with the silence

Utter and complete

Then comes the darkness

It swallows you whole

Once welcomed

Now feared

Within the darkness lies deep layers

Layers of nightmares

Each as twisted and sick as the next

Once I had the ability to shake them off

The barrage is endless

The haunting realism mixed with irrational horror

I search for somewhere to hide

It has infected every corner of my mind

A parasite that has consumed the sun

When my eyes open I wish I could forget

I have began to fear the darkness and silence

My once peaceful slumber has turned against me

I hope to one day get that back
