Nexus of Fate

Of Human Clay

Top Story - December 2025

In the minds of men and children

Burn thoughts and deeds unspoken

Dancing to the cadence of our hearts,

They ensure the nexus is never unbroken

*

Chanting echoes in haunted rhythms,

A lilting lullaby tells an unfailing story

While in sacred, ceaseless locutions,

Stripped secrets spin us toward the glory

*

Unsure of the path’s unwinding spirals

We steer the ship in search of land

A raging blaze calms to lead the way

As diverging waters open and expand

*

Our wealth is measured in wisdom gained

From the burning nexus of life’s force

In serendipitous infernos of song and dance,

A circling fire is born to ignite our course

*

High across the stars layered in the sky

Life's force is heralded in the fire of night

Minds and souls merge at the sight

As the circling nexus fuels our flight

*

Wisdom gleamed in this journey

Is gathered from a persistent fight

The hunted becomes the wise old sage

And undertakes the hunter’s plight

*

Evolution prevails, stoked and burning

As life persists, unveiling unleashed plays

All while we’re nurtured in fate’s blaze,

A piece of art baked from human clay

*

Our wealth is measured in wisdom gained

From the burning nexus of life’s force

In serendipitous infernos of song and dance,

A circling fire is born to ignite our course

*

Everything about this poem is well done. Even the subtitle. It's wonderfully written. The repeated stanzas are effective. It's cosmic and beautiful. Who knew Dan Fogelberg could inspire such beauty? Congratulations on Top Story and whatever else this wins.

This is gorgeous, Cindy! There’s such a strong, alive energy in the imagery. 😍

  • The imagery and repetitions reflected the nexus very well. Congratulations on top story.

The repeated motifs create a ritualistic almost musical rhythm that draws the reader into the journey.

  • Back to say congratulations on your Top Story! 🎉💖🎊🎉💖🎊

This is fantastic. Your word choice is sublime and evocative. I can't pick which lines are the most potent; there are so many. This is great work. Congrats on the top story; this deserves it.

“Our wealth is measured in wisdom gained” - I wish more people understood this. A powerful poem, Cindy!

The alliteration and rhythm of stanzas 2 and 3 are absolutely intoxicating.❤️

Breathtaking! Swept away by the breadth and depth of your poetic voice, Voice. I loved every line in the poem but the repeated lines at the poem's center and it's ending that begin with 'Our wealth is measured in wisdom gained,' is at the very heart of what I personally believe. And you are a fan of the wonderful Dan Fogelberg too! Same Auld Lang Zyne is my favorite song from that album!

  • Oooo, locution is a new word for me. Loved your beautiful and powerful poem!

  • Good Work❤️‍🔥
