New York City Blues
The lights don’t sleep, but neither do I,
Under the weight of a steel-gray sky.
Streets hum with life, but something’s cold,
A city of dreams, yet stories untold.
The subway roars, a thunder’s sound,
But in the noise, I’m lost, unbound.
Each corner turned, another face,
But none to stop, none to embrace.
The skyline towers, proud and tall,
But in its shadow, I feel so small.
The hustle moves with ceaseless pace,
Yet I stand still, out of place.
Cigarette smoke and rain-soaked streets,
Where loneliness and chaos meet.
New York’s pulse, a rhythm too fast,
A city that won’t let you last.
In neon lights, my heart turns blue,
Searching for something, but it’s not true.
The city’s alive, but in its glow,
I wonder if I’ll ever truly know.
And as the night swallows the sound,
I’m just another lost face in the crowd.
New York City far to loud for me.
Yet our love will last for all eternity.
