The Weight of Silence

We don’t talk anymore

The Weight of Silence

In the quiet, shadows creep,

Where whispered thoughts dare not sleep.

The world is still, our hearts beat loud,

Beneath a sky that’s tightly bowed.

No words are spoken, none are needed,

Yet in the silence, hearts are pleaded.

The weight of quiet, a heavy chain,

A silence that holds, a silent pain.

The space between us grows so wide,

Yet in this quiet, there’s nowhere to hide.

The echoes of what could have been,

Linger softly, deep within.

In silence, there’s no path to take,

Only the stillness of hearts that break.

You are a ghost of yesterday, to me.

Better off I am with out you, let me be.

Wow, this one hits hard! It builds up this tension, and then the last two lines—“Better off I am without you, let me be”—bring this bittersweet sense of closure. I can feel the weight in every line. Beautifully done!

Silence can be a hinderance at times as well as a good thing. Just depends on circumstances presented. Good job.
