New Skin

Changing colours

By Prarthana ChandranPublished 5 years ago 1 min read
The cat we adopted attacked me when we tried introducing another cat :(

Crimson red

I've seen this tone

Fresh from the wound

Now free to flow

I lie awake in pain, wince at each turn;

I pray the skin will close, and ease the burn.

Sangria purple

Six days gone by

Firm in its place

The blood now dry

I fear the worst, for my flesh

The gap amidst the skin, knows no rest.

Carob brown

Months down the road

What once was smooth

Now overgrown

I come to terms; I let it go

Brown or browner - I accept my new skin’s glow.
