I was a whisper in the wind,

A fleeting thought, a might-have-been.

Desired in moments, held so tight,

Yet never kept beyond the night.

I was the option, never the vow,

A temporary, not the now.

A spark that flickered, burned so bright,

But never turned into the light.

They wanted warmth but not the flame,

A heart to hold but not to claim.

A maybe—never set in stone,

A love that almost, but never shone.

But I am more than passing chance,

More than longing, more than glance.

Someday, somewhere, love will see—

I was always meant to be free.
