Nature’s Love

My Eternal Home

By Carlton Totten Published 4 years ago 1 min read

Who I am today is a mirage that will be gone tomorrow.

This experience is not my true home.

This experience “I AM” is having is less than a split second in eternity.

I will form my appearance in the sands of time.

I will add to it, improve upon it, perfect it and show it off;

Only for it all to be swept away by eternity.

No matter how great the appearance becomes in the sand,

It is still made of sand.

“Remember thou art mortal.”

This remembrance brings purpose, meaning and urgency to every millisecond of my life.

It’s like knowing I’m in a house that is going to burn to the ground.

This house is not my true home. I am merely a visitor of this magnificent and exciting place.

I live for unpredictability.

I live to get lost in the appearance,

I live to dive deep into the play of life. Like an actor who knows it’s his last performance on the stage.

I vow to live like I’ve never lived before!

To feel and welcome everything that comes with open arms,

The good and the bad.

Like an unconditionally loving mother who continues to love, even if she doesn’t receive that same love back.

I value but I do not attach.

To attach is to suffer.

Because everything is inevitably slipping through our fingers.

Like beautiful and precious grains of sand

Falling from my hands to be taken by the great ocean of life.

Returning to formlessness.

Returning to the one.

Returning home.

The perfect home.

My one true home, that will eternally be; ME.

The real me.

The “me” before I knew I was me.

The me that knows “I Am”.

“I Am” is my eternal nature.

My eternal home.

Realizing this is homecoming.

And into my eternal nature I rest my sleepy head.

And I hold and rock myself to sleep after many tiring and eventful days.

Welcome home.

I’m finally home.

A home filled with love beyond my wildest dreams.

A love that made it so I can be.

Home sweet home. Now I am free.
