Nature Comforted Him
His eczema-sore limbs felt better

My little son was sad,
an eczema flare-up,
with scratches and blood,
his legs looked bad.
With father’s scolding,
he was miserable.
His body was hurt,
and so was his heart.
I knew he needed comfort,
which only nature can give,
So, I put him in the stroller,
and we went on an adventure,
into our leafy neighborhood,
and we paused,
at a neighbor’s yard,
listened to humming bees
on the palo verde tree,
we inhaled rosemary,
smelled fragrant roses,
and listened to finches,
singing from the rooftops.
We soaked in sunlight
and let the spring breeze
caress his sore skin,
under the crescent moon.
We admired the grace of
soaring turkey vulture,
picked Chinese rain tree amber.
We came back,
from our healing walk,
feeling a lot better.

Sometimes the best medicine really is a walk in the sunshine and a good dose of birdsong—hope your little one’s feeling better!
Congrats on your Top Story. Well deserved
Your words touched me more deeply than I expected—sometimes we write through pain, and sometimes we heal through someone else’s. Thank you for reminding me that stories like ours matter. I’m also someone who writes from a place of struggle and silent strength. Following you now—and I’d be honored if you ever visit my corner of Vocal too. We rise when we lift each other.
Congratulations on TS!
Back to say congratulations on your Top Story! 🎉💖🎊🎉💖🎊
Congratulations on top story 🎉🎉
So tender and healing—both in imagery and emotion. You captured the way nature quietly holds space for our pain, especially through a mother’s eyes. This was a gentle balm, much like the walk you described.
I hope that little feels better, and you are right nature's way is usually the best way in a lot of cases. Good job.
Oh, poor baby <3 That's never fun at all
Oh no, why did he get scolded? But I'm glad he feels better now
My son knows we go for a walk nearly every day and he says "Walk time?" when he wakes up from his nap. He's having an eczema flare up now too, it looks so sore!
