Natural Disasters

The Collapse

By Nicole D'AvanzoPublished 3 years ago 1 min read

You are a tower of worlds colliding within.

Monsoons of emotions hidden under the skin.

The years it took, to perfect that grin.

This path, the only one, you fear to begin.

Powerful memories silenced by destruction.

And unconditional love taken as corruption.

An unrelenting grasp you hold unto me,

Is returned by my love with such simplicity.

Every act, every word, had meaning from the heart,

I truly believed; our paths wouldn’t depart.

And in your abyss of ice, of suppressed feeling,

I unknowingly, led you to a path of healing.

As now I share the same destination at hand,

But I bare far more hurt than I care to withstand.

Alone again, I pick up what is left of me,

And again I try to love so deep, with such simplicity.

My heart again shattered all on the floor,

But this time too heavy to pick up or ignore.

Swept under rugs feels uneasy, unnatural, but maybe for the best,

If only it could ease the anguished pits in my chest.

A sea of misguided deeds drowning out the light,

Pure hearted intentions never seeming right.

Sometimes it is me, hard to love, hard to be.

Or maybe your eyes just had different sights to see.

Because you are a powerful force, with electric eyes,

And you pierced my skies with the inevitable, goodbye.
