Nails on a Tree

Words never come easily,

Often feeling comes too abruptly,

Viciously,

Yet

Understanding is-

Something like love

I think I was in love once,

And maybe still am…with the birds, and trees, and sunlight

In every shudder of wind

Each graceful embrace of nature

Every bent form of protein

All life

All time

Reaching out my hands but never touching you

Every rain storm taps out a new yearning to engulf love with words

The power to our meaning

Can it be fully expressed?

Like a long slender booted figure nailing in a feeder

Can it be understood to its fullest extent?

Nasty turns violet

Third eye stunted

Attraction?

Shoot.

Natural fate versus natural selection

Unfortunately…

I cannot love you fully,

Until I begin to understand myself.
